Micron, small business help and the waterfront: Mayor Lanigan Q&A

back to news

ROME—Mayor Jeffery M. Lanigan fielded questions on developing the city’s waterfront, taking advantage of Micron in Syracuse and how to help local small businesses during a question and answer session hosted by NYSTEC on Thursday.

The Q&A was part of a business meet and greet on the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, with both prepared questions and some from the crowd. The mayor said the get-together was the first of hopefully many, part of his ongoing plan to boost small businesses in the city by bringing them together to collaborate. Lanigan said his administration will also soon launch a small business grant program sometime within the next several months.

“We want to be able to have some funding available for the entrepreneurs that are just getting started,” Lanigan stated, adding that he plans to bring in small business support groups for regular meetings once City Hall fully reopens.
