NYSTEC’s Habitat for Humanity Crew Make their Way to Troy

Back To Community Involvement

This year’s annual event took place at a few Troy, NY locations as several NYSTEC’ers helped clear and remove a tree from the yard, spackled interior walls, and worked on cutting, arranging, and nailing soffit and fascia into place on the roof of one of the houses. Habitat for Humanity Capital District was founded in 1988 as an independent affiliate of Habitat International. Each Habitat affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area. Habitat for Humanity does not build homes for people, but with them as equal partners. The purpose is for Habitat homeowners to build alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. The NYSTEC crew accomplished a great deal on this volunteer day, clearing the way and making preparations for contractors to perform the next construction steps to help families in Troy realize the dream of having a home of their own!
