NYSTEC’s Habitat for Humanity Crew At it Again in Albany

Back To Community Involvement

In what has become an annual event, several NYSTEC’ers set up shop at a Habitat for Humanity Capital District site on Delaware Street in Albany, helping clear debris, prepare walls for painting, load a truck with (lots of) excess building materials, paint trim, and prepare doors for installation. Habitat for Humanity Capital District was founded in 1988 as an independent affiliate of Habitat International. Each Habitat affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area. Habitat for Humanity does not build homes for people, but with them as equal partners. The purpose is for Habitat homeowners to build alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. The NYSTEC crew accomplished a great deal on this volunteer day, clearing the way and making preparations for contractors to perform the next construction steps, and bringing four Albany families that much closer to having homes of their own!
