About the Senior Consultant- Privacy Role
As a senior consultant in the cybersecurity and data privacy practice, you will collaborate closely with team members to support our clients in today’s rapidly evolving privacy landscape. In the privacy space, NYSTEC is considered a trusted program advisor, providing subject matter expertise, and connecting the dots for our clients. Serving as a senior consultant, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will support the New York State Department of Health.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for data privacy and regulatory compliance and a deep knowledge of HIPAA, as well as New York State and federal privacy laws and regulations. As a senior consultant, you will work independently and with teams to develop solutions to complex problems.
Key Responsibilities: Senior Consultant- Privacy
Overall, in the role of senior consultant- privacy, you will:
- Review policies, regulations, or proposals against existing NYS or federal requirements.
- Manage the day-to-day legal and policy requests assigned.
- Create evaluations of proposed activities including references to applicable laws or regulations.
- Create project workplans for long-term or multi-step initiatives.
- Manage Data Use and Business Associate Agreements.
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders from across our client community.
- Perform analysis of business needs balanced against privacy requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate as part of a team to oversee and implement privacy- and security-related best practices for NYSTEC clients.
Required Qualifications: Senior Consultant- Privacy
Candidates applying for the role of senior consultant- privacy should have the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
- Strong analytic capabilities and exemplary skills in stakeholder relationship development and management.
- Exceptional privacy knowledge and experience.
- General information security knowledge.
- New York State and federal health policy experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage and develop key relationships with colleagues and clients through collaborative thinking and a strong customer focus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience and demonstrated comfort level in verbal, written, and in-person communications.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Senior Consultant- Privacy
It would be helpful for candidates applying for the senior consultant- privacy role to have the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
- Experience with New York State Department of Health programs.
- Security and privacy certifications from accredited organization such as ISC2 or IAPP.
- Knowledge of the New York State Medicaid program and its systems, data, and uses.
- Expertise in public health, health information, or security and privacy policies and standards, such as NIST 800-53 and CMS Acceptable Risk Safeguards (ARS).
Education and Experience: Senior Consultant- Privacy
For the senior consultant- privacy, candidates should have the following education/experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree with at least 3 years of related experience in privacy, law, or health care policy, is required. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Master’s Degree, Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
