About the Consultant – Surveillance Team Lead

The surveillance team lead collaborates with team members to support our clients in evaluating the performance of Social Adult Day Cares (SADC) across New York State for compliance with the Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule and other state and federal regulations. Your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will be providing expertise, guidance, and support to a team of quality assurance (QA) surveillance analysts and, at times, developing project-related resources. The surveillance team lead reports to and works closely with the QA surveillance lead to ensure that essential project goals are met.

This role is based in Albany, NY.

Key Responsibilities: Consultant – Surveillance Team Lead

Overall, in the role of consultant – surveillance team lead, you will:

  • Support and mentor a team of surveillance analysts who are performing SADC compliance reviews.
  • Assess the quality of work to ensure consistent knowledge and understanding of topics.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and knowledge to less experienced team members.
  • Monitor and report team progress to the QA surveillance lead, discussing any risks and working to identify solutions.
  • Assist with the ongoing implementation of the project’s processes and procedures.
  • Assist with all internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and clients to deliver high-quality customer service and to develop a strong working relationship.
Required Qualifications: Consultant – Surveillance Team Lead
  • A minimum of one year serving as a subject matter expert in audit or compliance processes, the HCBS Settings Final Rule, or similar NYS regulations.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as an auditor, compliance analyst, care manager, medical records reviewer, chart reviewer, or quality assurance analyst.
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluating state and federally funded programs for compliance.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to complex evaluations.
  • Exceptional customer service relationship techniques, including superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with and relate to staff and stakeholders and demonstrate above average communication skills.
  • Experience supporting and mentoring teams to foster collaboration and support their growth.
  • Ability to foster teamwork with all levels of management and staff.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft suite of products, including Access databases, Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Consultant – Surveillance Team Lead
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience with, Social Adult Day Care programs.
  • Experience working with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and/or managed long-term care plans.
  • Process oriented and ability to produce results-driven work outcomes.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Education and Experience: Consultant – Surveillance Team Lead

For the consultant – surveillance team lead role, candidates should have the following education/experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare management, psychology, human services, business, management, or a related field, with three years of related experience as defined above. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
