About the Consultant – Surveillance Quality Assurance Analyst

As a consultant – surveillance quality assurance (QA) analyst, you will work independently, as well as collaborate with team members to support our clients in evaluating the performance of social adult day cares (SADC) across New York State and their compliance with the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Program regulations. Serving as a surveillance QA analyst, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will be to assess compliance through documentation reviews and virtual on-site visits. The functions of the position are performed remote.

Key Responsibilities: Consultant – Surveillance Quality Assurance Analyst

Overall, in the role of consultant – surveillance quality assurance analyst, you will:

  • Evaluate SADC compliance with applicable regulations through documentation and observation.
  • Clearly communicate evaluation requirements and follow up in writing.
  • Review and evaluate documentation against applicable state/federal regulations.
  • Collect data and documentation to support compliance findings.
  • Use technology to convert hard copy documentation to electronic.
  • Use a secure file transfer system to send/receive documentation.
  • Record, summarize, and convey compliance findings through written communication for the SADC program.
  • Assist in determining trends in noncompliance.
  • Make appropriate and timely recommendations to the lead/project manager.
Required Qualifications: Consultant – Surveillance Quality Assurance Analyst
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a healthcare compliance analyst, auditor, care manager, or Medicaid provider in a role responsible for conducting oversight, compliance audits or chart reviews, or ensuring quality of care.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, customer service relationship techniques, and accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with monitoring or auditing program compliance.
  • Experience in meeting deadlines and adhering to strict standards of performance.
  • Ability to handle and balance multiple, competing priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Consultant – Surveillance Quality Assurance Analyst
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, interpreting state and federal regulations and with enforcing the compliance activities of third parties.
  • Experience working with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), or the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).
  • Ability to work with and relate to staff and demonstrate active listening skills.
  • Process oriented and results-driven work strategy.
  • Ability to foster teamwork with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.
Education and Experience: Consultant – Surveillance Quality Assurance Analyst

For the consultant – surveillance quality assurance analyst role, candidates should have the following education/experience:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare management, psychology, human services, or a related field and at least two years of related experience, as defined above, is preferred. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
