About the Role:

As a technical project manager within the Technical Architecture and Communications Systems (TACS) practice, you will be supporting information technology (IT) and radio frequency (RF) initiatives for our clients, partners, and stakeholders, primarily through applying strong oversight, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate should have a diversity of strengths relating to the project manager knowledge area, including effective project tracking, estimating, and communicating timelines, anticipating and communicating issues/risks, developing and maintaining key technical documentation, task delegation and oversight, assisting the team with eliciting and documenting business requirements, testing and quality assurance oversight, and system design and client/vendor management. This role will involve working with your team to provide management, oversight, and applicable technical expertise to implement IT and RF solutions successfully for our clients. You will be expected to exhibit strong writing, documentation, communication, and analytical skills to meet project goals.

You must possess and use industry standard project management skills to lead projects across the TACS industry verticals. Project management includes providing all deliverables, mitigating and reporting any risks, and ensuring the success of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of project management best practices and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of all stages of the project management life cycle (Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK] stages): conception and initiation, planning, execution, performance/monitoring, project close.
  • Knowledge leading, inspiring, and managing project teams.
  • Knowledge developing and analyzing needs assessments.
  • Knowledge using project management tracking and organization tools and techniques (e.g., Microsoft Project).
  • Knowledge in the creation of project management related deliverables. (e.g., project plan, resource reports).
  • Using real-world knowledge, industry best practices, and technology best practices to lead projects to success.
  • Ensure that project deliverables are of high quality and meet the client’s needs and expectations.
  • Provide effective written and reporting communication for all aspects of the project.
  • Ensure that all parties and stakeholders are informed of the progress and status of all project activities.

About You:

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheets), methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and resourcefulness skills.
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to manage and develop key relationships with colleagues and clients through collaborative thinking and a strong customer focus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Project management professional (PMP) certification.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
  • Experience implementing and managing voice and data communications systems.
  • Experience in IP-based and wireless technologies in the public safety environment.
  • Experience working with public safety/critical infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Experience working with New York State and City agencies.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree and 10 years of related project management experience in a business/technology setting, or an equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience.
