About the Content Strategist Role
As a content strategist in the Marketing Communications department, you will be responsible for planning, designing, creating, editing, and publishing relevant content based on the company’s business objectives and needs.
Key Responsibilities: Content Strategist
Overall, in the role of content strategist, you will:
- Support the marketing communications manager in leading the development and implementation of the company’s strategic marketing and communications plan.
- Help manage, maintain, and enhance NYSTEC’s brand and messaging.
- Help develop internal editorial strategies, ensure content is consistent across all delivery platforms, and collaborate with the team to implement.
- Develop creative, positive, and effective internal corporate messaging, including intranet and website articles, staff communications regarding benefits and corporate initiatives, and other company announcements and policies.
- With support from team members, spearhead the development of an internal communications vehicle to regularly align NYSTEC’s service delivery teams with priority company announcements.
- Support the management and implementation of a refresh and revamp of NYSTEC’s employee intranet.
- Oversee writing style and tone for content and ensure editorial guidelines are followed.
- Ensure content strategy meets business objectives.
- Help plan and manage the editorial calendar for various internal and external outlets, including employee communications, NYSTEC’s website, social media, advertisements, and the intranet.
- Update and refresh older content to meet new content standards.
- Collaborate with graphic and digital designers for content delivery.
- Periodically research and update the team on search engine optimization (SEO), content trends, and consumer behavior.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Content Strategist
Candidates applying for the role of content strategist should have the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
- Understand and thrive in the complexity of the English language related to meaning, nuance, and context.
- Expertise in Associated Press (AP) style.
- Expertise in juggling multiple priorities simultaneously and switching priorities quickly when needed while maintaining an even keel.
- Understand NYSTEC’s mission, brand mindsets, and core values and behaviors well enough to serve as a role model. Encourage and support staff in aligning behavior and actions with the core values.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Content Strategist
It would be helpful for candidates applying for the content strategist role to have the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:
- Affiliation with marketing communications programs and organizations.
Education and Experience: Content Strategist
For the content strategist, candidates should have the following education/experience:
- A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience with corporate communications, content generation, editing, and proofreading in the professional services industry. An equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience will be considered.
