NYSTEC Wins Telecommunications Contract with New York MTA

January 18, 2010

Rome, NY - NYSTEC Director Mike Walsh announced today that the company was awarded a competitively bid contract to provide on-call telecommunications consulting to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the New York-based public benefit corporation that manages the largest transportation network in North America.

The three-year contract enables the MTA to hire NYSTEC as a telecommunications consultant in any of five areas:
    1. Strategic Planning
    2. Evaluating Major Systems/Reviewing New Systems, Initiatives and Vendor Proposals
    3. Procurement and Finance
    4. Project Management Oversight
    5. Benchmarking/Establishing Service Level Agreements

“We are delighted that the MTA has selected our company as an on-call consultant,” said NYSTEC President Mike Donovan.  “We welcome the opportunity to support the Authority with its telecommunications planning, procurement and project management.”

“The MTA consists of 10 different operating agencies,” noted Walsh.  “Its telecommunications requirements run the gamut from radio to cellular to fiber optics to microwave to various telephone systems such as PBX and Centrex.  The award of this competitively procured contract, in such tough economic times at the MTA and elsewhere, validates the ‘best value’ proposition that NYSTEC offers to its client — outstanding expertise at a great rate.  We are excited about serving the MTA as their independent trusted technology and telecommunications advisor.”

The MTA is responsible for transit, buses, subways, rail, bridges and tunnels in New York City and vicinity, including 12 counties in New York State and two in Connecticut.
